The Challenges

Architectural design projects often begin with visual inspiration—but clients struggle to organize and share their vision in a cohesive way.

Designers at Compass were receiving scattered screenshots, emails, and text messages with design ideas, making it difficult to keep track of preferences and align on vision.

The client intake process was time-consuming, disorganized, and lacked a seamless system for collecting and reviewing client inspiration materials across platforms.

Compass needed a solution that met clients where they already were—browsing visual content on their phones—and made it effortless to transfer that inspiration directly into the hands of their design team.

The Solutions

We designed and developed Compass, a mobile-first Safari extension for iOS that integrates directly with the Compass CRM. With this extension, clients can:

  • Save images directly from Pinterest, Google Images, and other sites while browsing Safari on their iPhones.

  • Tag or categorize inspiration photos before submitting them.

  • Automatically upload selections to their personal project folder within Compass CRM, organized and ready for the designer's review.

  • Receive optional prompts to add comments or describe why an image caught their eye.

The extension required custom native development, secure authentication tied to the client’s CRM, and a frictionless UX to ensure clients would actually use it.

The Result

A 6-week usability study and customer feedback survey revealed strong adoption and satisfaction:

  • 92% of clients found it easier to communicate their design ideas using Compass.

  • 87% of designers reported clearer initial project briefs and fewer rounds of clarification.

  • Client onboarding time was reduced by 35% on average.

  • Net Promoter Score (NPS) increased from 62 to 78 post-launch.
